WWE RAW possibly in danger with USA Network’s changing priorities

Vince Russo, one of the top officials in the world of professional wrestling, was part of the Legion of RAW podcast. During the podcast, Russo spoke about WWE’s deal with USA Network for WWE RAW.

Vince Russo on USA Network and WWE RAW

Given his long history in the professional wrestling business, Vince Russo has several sources. It revealed that WWE RAW is no longer a high priority for the USA Network. Apparently there has been a change in the mindset of the network. As a result of the change, WWE may have trouble renewing their contract with RAW.

“I’m going to tell you something. I’m going to say this; I’m not going to tell you who. I still talk to Network people on TV because I’m a television brand. I’ve worked with Network people all my life, you know, with Spike. , Turner and USA and the whole nine meters. I’ve learned a lot from television from the Network people. “

“Someone told me last week, when it comes to the television side, and I’m not going to speak on Fox. I don’t know about Fox, but they told me WWE isn’t even a priority for USA Network anymore. And if it’s not a priority, I can’t imagine the USA (Network) registering them again after this deal. Now don’t get me wrong, Chris. You and I know about wrestling. They will find another fool. They’ll find a chain that they think Rock and Austin are buying. That’s what they do “.

Apparently, the USA Network expected to see a change in RAW’s ratings after WWE ThunderDome was introduced. While there was an increase after the introduction of ThunderDome, the ratings have fallen again since then.

USA Network was also unhappy with the firing of Paul Heyman earlier in the year.

Shane McMahon had hosted RAW Underground, which saw street-style fights and the segment took place on Monday Night Raw.

Arturo Ruas, who is currently part of the Diamond Mine stable on NXT, had an interview with The Wrestling Inc. Daily. He talked about RAW Underground.

Arturo Ruas explains why Shane McMahon stopped RAW Underground

Ruas has a background in combat sports, which was a major factor in his participation in RAW Underground, which is now disbanded. Triple H offers former WWE Champion a new contract

He also opened up about the segment’s initial plans, but named the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason it disbanded.

This is what he had to say:

“I, like you, knew about these things while they were happening. I heard they were bringing a show that was going to have some street fighting vibes, ”Jaoude revealed. “They were bringing in people with legitimate backgrounds to have a different design of a match. They lowered the strings and said to bring street clothes to wear and have street vibes, and I got it. So when I got to RAW and saw it, I thought, okay, I got it. It will be a real thing and all the games were short and the interactions were real, you had to do it 100%.

That was RAW Underground. RAW Underground was totally different from what we see in professional wrestling matches. I had a lot of fun doing it and I got to talk to a lot of people and it was really good to be there. I had a lot of fun on the show. It was supposed to be uninterrupted, running all the time, but the pandemic sucks and the pandemic changed the lives of millions of people. So RAW Underground died from the pandemic. “

WWE is unlikely to bring back RAW Underground, which garnered a mixed reaction from fans and wrestling experts.
