Rob Van Dam talks about Steve Austin’s possible return to the ring

Published

on

Rob Van Dam, the former WWE star, recently spoke with Thibaud Choplin. He gave his thoughts on the return of WWE icon Steve Austin to the squared circle.

It’s definitely possible: Rob Van Dam

The former WWE Champion said there are people in their seventies who step foot in the ring and have fights and explained the possibility of Austin coming back inside the ring.

He said:

“It is definitely possible. If you want to do it, I think you could definitely do it. You know what I mean? It’s a controlled enough environment … I’ve seen guys in their seventies who still struggle sometimes, and it’s not a problem, really. I don’t know why I would want to happen. I mean, it is very successful. He’s making a lot of money, and it seems like he’s still on a roll, like once a month or something. Anyway, I’m sure it’s not that often, but even if you’ve been out and struggled in a while, you’ve been on the show often enough to have that value. And it will always have that value because it is an icon. “

Austin was forced to withdraw from in-ring competition in 2003 due to injuries he sustained throughout his career.

Since then, Austin has made several appearances in the WWE over the years. He had his last fight at WrestleMania 19 when he faced The Rock in a losing effort.

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg returned to WWE in 2016 after a more than a decade hiatus from the company. He would then defeat Brock Lesnar in a squash match at Survivor 2016 and then win the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in 2017. He defended his title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 in one of the show’s main events. Goldberg also admitted teasing Ric Flair for being too old to be in the ring in the past. Goldberg also sent a bold message to a WWE Superstar a couple of months ago.

Goldberg finally returned to WWE television when he appeared on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW after Bobby Lashley successfully defended his WWE Championship against a returning Keith Lee. Subsequently, Goldberg appeared and challenged Bobby Lashley for a WWE Championship match declaring that he is next.

WWE is also announcing Goldberg for two more appearances on Monday Night RAW. He is scheduled to appear on the August 2 and 16 episode of the show. Raw on August 16 could be Goldberg’s last under his 3-year contract with WWE, signed in the spring of 2019 for 2 matches per year.
