Kirstie Alley, what happened to the Listen Who Speaks star?

Kirstie Alley was one of the best-known faces of the cinema of the 90s: launched by the sitcom Cin Cin in 1987, ours reached success on the big screen in a few years, thanks mainly to the series of Look who’s talking.

Films with John Travolta and the unforgettable newborn voiced by Bruce Willis (Paolo Villaggio, for us Italian viewers) represented the final consecration for an actress who, until a few years before, had known more pains than joys between the death of her mother, the divorce of her first husband and the difficulty of finding commitments.

Senti Chi Parla followed other important roles, such as Woody Allen’s Harry’s Pieces in 1997; but what happened to Kirstie Alley in these last years? Ours has been far from the center of attention since 2016, the year she participated in the television series Scream Queens; Before that we had last seen her on the big screen in Accidental Love (2015).

Previously, ours had faced with great irony the weight problems resulting from post-divorce stress: Fat Actress It was a successful series conceived by Alley herself to lightly recount her attempts to lose a few pounds. However, when it comes to film, very few appearances from the 2000s onwards (let’s talk about only two movies shot in the new millennium). While waiting to see Kirstie in a notable role, however, some time ago there was talk of a possible restart of Senti Chi Parla.

Chapter 5: “Steam Gorilla”

Dr stone premieres its fifth broadcast with a comparison of forces between the steam engine and Magma, winning this first. The basic archetype of the car is done, but they have yet to test and improve it, starting with the wheels. These are covered with bamboo cloth, mimicking the airless wheels of NASA prototypes.

Once they are ready, the elders decide not to accompany them on the journey to facilitate the journey and the next battle. Along the way, Senku comes to the conclusion that they must stop and turn the car into a tank. To do this, he creates paper by cooking herbs in sodium hydroxide, creates a shield with a wooden structure and reinforces it with plastic without solidifying. The result is a very flexible and resistant material, carbon fiber. However, the tank is single-use, a frontal attack to free Chrome, whose location is discovered by Suika in a raid.

In her cell, Chrome discovers that Tsukasa has set traps. He knows that Senku could create a steam engine at any moment. The young “scientist” makes the decision to escape only to warn his companions of the danger.

Analysis: science and determination

Dr stone creates an intense and perfect narrative in its fifth chapter. The entire episode revolves around the advancement of the Kingdom of Science and the scientific improvements of the car, which has just been transformed into a tank. On the other hand, the last minutes give us the enormous determination of Chrome, who breaks the expected narrative scheme and decides to save himself and others.

Along the lines of the series, and with so many elements already discussed in previous reviews of the first season, we are going to stop at the beauty and importance of some moments:

  • The scenes of the March of the Kingdom of Science are particularly beautiful and full of metaphors and suggestions. With the snows practically melted, spring and the floral explosion accompany the first tests of the steam engine. When it is time to depart, they advance with the banner of science and magnificent scenes follow one another in which a swallow goes to the Tsukasa Empire. The swallow is the bird with which Senku’s scientific revolution began, with which he discovered the formula for rebirth from stone.
  • Again, on the enemy side we have charismatic characters like Tsukasa, who guesses Senku’s ability to create a steam engine; versus filler enemies, in which repeated drawing is overused as they are all muscular men with little brains and hairstyles punks.
  • It is worth noting, at this point in the plot, the strong bonds of trust and teamwork of the Ishigami village. This allows technological improvements and ideas to flow like silk, and each of them is clear about the value that the others bring. Emotional ties also create a climate of affection and protection among the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Science. Thus, their interrelationships make us see a kind of great family.

Chapter 6: “Prison Break”

Dr stone opens a new chapter dedicated to Chrome’s escape from the bamboo prison where Tsukasa’s army held him. His captors take him for a stone age savage, and Chrome uses this to his advantage to gain space and devise a strategy. In a first attempt, he pretends that he needs to go to the bathroom and collects herbs and materials around him. However, they do not seem useful, since you cannot start a fire with such small branches.

Suddenly, an individual takes advantage of the shadows to slide one of the batteries he was carrying. With it, he decides to imitate Senku to create a corrosive acid that dissolves the ropes that hold the bars. As it needs a saline solution, it collects its own sweat, which it discharges with the battery. The plan works and he manages to flee thanks to his attention to the terrain and the surprise factor. You, a former cop, chase him until he’s cornered. Then Chrome vomits blood, tells him he has pneumonia, and infects him by throwing it away. The enemy is horrified and Chrome escapes.

At the camp, Chrome shows up and reveals to everyone how he escaped. He also confesses that what he vomited was some herbs.

Analysis: Chrome, the “scientist”

The sixth installment of Dr stone All the limelight returns in Chrome, from the village of Ishigami. On the way between the scientist and the sorcerer, he himself coined the expression “user of science”, which has been translated, very aptly in my opinion, as “scientist” or “scientist”.

Possibly, Chrome is one of the characters that has the most faith in Senku, (if not the most). However, the admiration is mutual, since our protagonist projects him as a partner, a alter ego his thing about the new stone age and, above all, the awareness that science is inherent to human beings and will never disappear. Chrome is genuine, he is the curious man who breaks the rules and wants to know, the first stone on the road to civilization. Therefore, the existence of this prescientist destroys Tsukasa’s utopia, since, from scratch, science always resurfaces.

In this sense, Senku feels that it is not essential and knows that Chrome has the ability to learn and contribute; He would never underestimate his lab partner. However, the enemy despises him and relegates him to the myth of the good savage. In an act of utter arrogance, the stone reborn pretend to live a time without civilization, but at the same time, from their 21st century mentality, they laugh at Chrome. This supine ignorance is a weapon that the character exploits in his favor, and in the end, he knows how to do science, strategy and theater.

Me and other aspects of the chapter

As we predicted in previous reviews, the explosion of new characters will enrich the world of Dr stone progressively. Today, the manga follows an interesting path in which the appearance of charismatic characters with important gifts to contribute to the Kingdom of Science does not cease.

In this chapter, we meet Yo, a former cop who does not marry with civilized methods and finds the right place in the world of stone. His irascible personality and his sense of justice, as pure as it is twisted, are quite consistent. Unlike many other characters trapped by goodness, innocence, or ideals, or characters like Hyoga, who are simply evil, Yo has the originality of being mentally unbalanced.

As for the narrative approach of the episode, the feeling is already emerging that they are slowing down the plot. On the other hand, it was inevitable. This second season is more of a necessity to close the arc of the war with Tsukasa than a true continuation of the manga’s story. (And, really, the decision is not understood).

In conclusion

Dr stone gives way to spring, to the floral landscape and to the green after the white winter. With the steam engine, the Kingdom of Science advances towards enemy territory to rescue Chrome. However, it is the “scientist” himself who makes the decision to escape and save his companions from a trap.

Without a doubt, this is one of the great moments of Chrome. In it, he shows that the enormous trust Senku has placed in him may even exceed his expectations. Far from being the princess to be rescued, or the good savage that the reborn of the 21st century laugh at, Chrome combines all her skills and proves to be a true “user of science”.

Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7: The Offensive Begins

Nino meets his father in front of the building where they lived until not long ago, to be able to speak with him and reaffirm everyone’s decision to maintain their current lifestyle for a while longer. With the fact that Ichika won’t be the one to bear the costs of all of them. Words that do not end up convincing his father. However, at that moment Futaro appears on a motorcycle to take Nino to the celebration with his sisters.

Upon arriving at the bakery, all together celebrate Yotsuba’s great work, sharing their cake with each one. End up being shared between all of them. At the end of eating, Nino goes to the local kitchen carrying the used dishes, as well as wanting to thank the manager for the gesture. However, he ends up being alone with Futaro, to whom he reaffirms his confession, since he did not listen to her when they were on the motorcycle.

Futaro went to the supermarket to buy, meeting Miku there. Who managed to distract Futaro’s attention in a raffle, which had a trip as a prize. Futaro ends up winning the trip, going with his father and Raiha. But, coincidentally, the Nakano family was there as well, as Miku also won the trip, with the quintuplets accompanied by their father on the trip. Staying in the same hostel.

With his father’s constant vigilance, Futaro is unable to speak to the quintuplets, but finds a note that appears to be from Itsuki, calling him to the inn’s inner courtyard at midnight. However, he meets Itsuki before reaching the agreed place, who tells him that he does not want him to continue being the guardian of all of them. The next day, talking to Itsuki, they discover that it was one of his disguised sisters who said those words to him.

Guess who?

Outside of Nino’s part to end the arc above, the main plot I consider was more focused on Futaro and his problem of not recognizing the Nakano sisters yet. Something that is annoying to me at this point in the story, since he has had enough interactions with them to at least have suspicions of who each one is.

In Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7 the main mystery is to know who is the false Itsuki. That you could know his answer by discarding or at least having suspicions. After all, one of them is known for playing the role of her sisters when it comes to dressing up and another is an actress. In addition to that, it has always been said that they do not need it and it was emphasized to the end.

The fact that Futaro still cannot recognize them shows the lack of character development. Something that honestly bothers me a bit. His past with Rena contributed the most to his character development. It was an engine for him to want to recognize them and discover the truth behind Rena. However, I have the feeling that little by little they have been recognized, not only for their writing style, but also aesthetically and for their personality.

I became suspicious of that when he easily recognized Miku at the supermarket. Although her hearing aids may have given her away, earlier Futaro would have been hesitant to speak to her. Also, I am even more suspicious of him due to the “interrogation” he did to Miku at the time. Why did she ask if Nino had said something to her (Miku)? If I had always watched them argue or compete over their differences … I feel like Futaro is much more insightful than he has shown so far.

I’ll take your daughter, sir

As I mentioned earlier, the “Seven Goodbyes” arc helped the quintuplets develop better. And in Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7 left the part of Nino, ending all the parts that should form the arc in question. Agree to have feelings for Futaro and even confess them twice.

It is from that moment that I stopped seeing Nino in the same way, well, her new attitude is one of the ones that I enjoy the most in female characters. More daring and / or willing to take the initiative. Honestly, I like her more than Miku’s current personality. However, Nino has not become my favorite quintuplet. Although at last he is a worthy rival in search of Futaro’s love. If Nino had been like this from the beginning, surely my team would have been different.

In the end, the one I still believe must have had the best development in the latest episodes It must have been Yotsuba, followed by Nino, Ichika, Itsuki, and Miku respectively. But, how I felt about things in development was that Nino showed better progress in her character than Yotsuba, Ichika, and Itsuki shared a place (when they shouldn’t have), and Miku was the only one who kept my expectations. After all, she is the one who I think had the best development so far, especially in her approach to Futaro.

Going back to Nino’s confession, I’m not going to deny that from the first time he did it, I couldn’t help but let out a cry of “male fangirlAnd since then get excited every time she appeared on stage with him. Repeat crying more than once during Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7.

About the quintuplet who went to the bathroom with Futaro, honestly in that situation I would have hesitated a bit because of the fright and the nerves she would have. Although, on second thought, it’s easy to know who he was. Well, I knew it wasn’t Itsuki, and the only ones I think capable of doing something so daring are Ichika and Nino … and considering Nino’s confession not too long ago, I think the answer was very obvious. Assuming he couldn’t recognize her.

Fan service

I really appreciate Itsuki and Nino’s fan service scenes in Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7. Without an annoying censorship like a dense vapor. Although Itsuki’s was more revealing, the truth is that Nino’s made me feel more like my heart was racing. I really appreciate that they had that quality in the animation, much better compared to the previous chapters.

In fact, Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7 I think its quality improved, although it still does not live up to the expectations I had at the beginning, I think overall it had a good animation. Returning one of the aspects that I like the most in Gotoubun no Hanayome 2, high-quality facial expressions and close-ups. Of course, there are still some that I have doubts about.

The settings have improved, although I still feel like the lighting problem persists. The movement of the characters and objects also shows improvements, I no longer see them as robotic.

© Negi Haruba / Kodansha / Production Committee of “The quintessential bride par excellence ∬”

In Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7 the two scenes that I liked the most were Nino’s first confession (when they were riding a motorcycle) and when Nino, embarrassed and upset, comes out of the mixed bathroom after Futaro did not recognize her. But personally I think the latter had a much better quality. Being my favorite of Gotoubun no Hanayome 2 – Chapter 7. I loved the quality of expression and everything around him, even the lighting that I think was perfect. While I was in confession, it felt a bit (too) bright, plus it seemed more “simple” to me.

For me, the key point of comparison between the two scenes is Nino’s hair. Although one has been in motion and the other has not. In the bathroom it seemed more detailed. Even in the original work I found that Nino’s hair was more detailed than in the animated adaptation. By this I do not mean that it was a bad adaptation and / or animation, but that the animation of the series is not yet in perfect sync.

It still has a long way to go before it can meet the expectations it had at the time for animation quality. But I think they did very well in this episode and I hope they keep improving.
